Winter Wonders in Lincoln City

There is something magical about Lincoln City in the winter. Drizzly, gray, moody, and cool, the season shows a whole different side of the Oregon Coast. Discover the Wonders of Wintertime in Lincoln City.

Art for Blowing, Buying, and Finding

The weather outside may be cool on a winter day in Lincoln City, but the art scene is hot. Visit Lincoln City Glass Center to watch artists at work. See the swirling heat and color come together to make floats, vases, and more. You can even try it for yourself in a hands-on experience with the glass gurus. After, wander the galleries filled with jaw-dropping creations for sale. Our Finders Keepers float fairies also hide hand-blown glass floats along the beach, for you to find and keep. There’s plenty of other local art to discover too.

Explore our History and Culture

From the First People’s time to today, Lincoln City has a long history and plenty of stories to share. Visit the North Lincoln County Historical Museum and see everything from fossils and Native American beadwork to Japanese fishing floats and our town’s history. The historic Delake School is home to the Cultural Center, with classes, performances, and galleries to discover.

Let's go shopping!

Step out of the weather and into our fun, unique, and quirky collection of shops. From jewelry created out of beachcombing finds, to surf shops, kite shops, fashion, souvenirs, and mystic crystals, you can spend the day exploring. Of course there are also Lincoln City Outlets and plenty of antiquing to do, too.

Outside? Did you say, outside?

Call us crazy but winter in Lincoln City is also a perfect time to get outside. So pull on your rain gear and head out. Everything is transformed, from hiking trails hushed by the falling rain to beaches washed clean and redecorated by the storms and King Tides. Plus, there is something about coming back from a wintery adventure in the outdoors to a warm fire, warm clothes, and the stories you can tell.

Time to Comb the Beach

Beachcombing is always one of the best ways to explore. And in the winter, storms and King Tides make dramatic changes to the coastline. New finds are unearthed like long-buried secrets, just waiting to be discovered. Keep your eyes peeled for our beautiful Finders Keepers glass floats too. Our free Beachcombing Exploriance includes a local expert to guide you along the beach explaining our unique coastal geology, and help you find nature’s treasures like agates, fossils, shells, and minerals.

Explore the Biosphere

Lincoln City is also home to the natural wonders of the Cascade Head Biosphere. Winter brings a different experience to this beautifully unique area where the land meets the sea. Hike among the wintertime flora and fauna of a rare and diverse ecosystem, and explore the Salmon River and estuary. Bring binoculars and keep an eye out for wildlife, from eagles to otters, elk, heron, salmon, and even whales.

Safe Times are Good Times

The winter ocean is a powerful and beautiful thing, but always wait until after the weather and King Tides have passed for the beach to be safe. Check for King Tide dates, beach closures, and other safety information before heading out for the day, and make sure to obey all beach closure signs. Have fun!
