Aaron moved to Lincoln City with the waves on his mind. Coming from Idaho, he wanted to be close to the ocean and discovered his love for surfing. He also found glassblowing to be just as thrilling as surfing and started to learn the technique. His glass-blowing experience includes the Christmas Market is Ulm, Germany, techniques training in St. Petersburg, Russia, and a one-week masterclass in Venice, Italy.
Megan grew up in Hawaii and Southern California and knew that she would always have to be near the ocean, so she made Lincoln City her home. Like Aaron, she found herself drawn to the glass world and was lucky enough to be taught by a great glassblower here in town. From then on, glasswork was all she wanted to do.
Aaron and Megan's shared passion for glass not only brought them together as a couple but propelled them to create ThornMeadow Glassworks, on their 17-acre farm just outside of Lincoln City. They built the Glass Studio from the ground up. In 2018, the studio opened with the goal of sharing their passion for glass art with the community as well as exploring their own artistic expressions. They also hope to pass their love of glass to their 3 boys Ryder, Leviathan, and Apollo.
The studio is open to the public for private tours, classes, and custom workshops. ThornMeadow provides glass art for many local community fundraisers and their work can be found in over a dozen galleries along the Oregon Coast.
